Mac's Springs was founded in 1969 by Russ "Mac" McConnell in beautiful Highland, California. Mac's Springs started as a small automotive shop installing after market suspension products on cars and trucks. Mac's was quickly developing a reputation for quality in the suspension industry.
In 1978 Russ's son in law, Fred Robbins, became part owner of Mac's Springs. Fred and Russ decided that it was time to expand the business by distributing suspension parts to other businesses in Southern California. Fred hit the road with a truck full of suspension parts and began developing relationships with automotive businesses in Southern California.
Those humble beginnings grew over the years into a flourishing business. Along the way Mac's Springs cultivated a new ownership group comprised of John Rago and Theresa Rago. The contributions of these owners has helped to create a company that will continue to lead the suspension industry.
Mac's Springs has secured itself as the #1 supplier of suspension related parts in Southern California. Mac's Spring has not only supplied parts, but been a driving force in the innovation of the suspension industry. Mac's Springs was one of the early adopters of Air Bag technologies. They recognized the benefits of the system and began selling the original offerings by Air Lift, Firestone and Hellwig. These early dealings with Air Bag technology allowed the staff at Mac's to recognize problems in early designs and help the manufactures refine their products.
In addition Mac was able to develop expertise is custom air bag design and installation. With the help of their business partners, they forged a new industry based entirely on after market air bag installation. These revelations increased the performance in the sport truck industries. With these advances enthusiasts were able to modify their cars and trucks at a much cheaper price point. Mac's has its finger prints all over the suspension industry. You will likely not find a manufacturer or a suspension part's house in the United States that has not been involved with Mac's Springs.
